Black 47 Stout

The Black 47 Stout is named in recognition of the Irish Potato Famine of 1847. Black 47 is a true Irish Dry Stout with just a hint of the finest English hops. Our smooth creamy stout is hand-brewed to stand the test of time, as the Irish did many years ago.

In April of 1719, a small group of families left the port city of Derry, Ireland, and settled just a "barrel's roll" from our microbrewery in what was then known as the Nutfield Colony. In tribute to their pioneering spirit, we have dedicated ourselves to the art of brewing fresh, full-bodied ales. Nutfield Ales are "fire-brewed" in a brick brew kettle and fermented in open vats just like they used to do in the Old Country. This traditional brewing process takes a bit longer, but we're sure you'll agree it's worth it.

Our brewers have selected only the finest, all-natural ingredients mother nature can provide. Each barrel is hand-crafted using choice hops, select malted barley, sparkling pure New Hampshire water, and our top fermenting specialty yeast. We use no additives, no pasteurization and make no compromises on freshness of flavor.

Step back in time and savor the pioneering flavor of "Black 47 Stout".
